Costa Rica: the Rain Forest

One of our excursions during the mission trip was to the rain forest. We got to cross this very wobbly bridge that was about 100 ft. over the river. From it we had a really great view and we got to see some wildlife within just a few feet, including an iguana!

After we walked across the bridge, we saw the national bird of Costa Rica. Below, in the middle of the picture, you might be able to see it. It's a little disappointing that it's not as colorful as a lot of the birds in the country, but it's the national bird because it can be found in every region.

Below is a picture of a black toucan. See if you can spot it!

I was really fascinated by the ants that carry these massive (compared to the size of the ant) leaves. From a distance it just looks like the leaves are moving themselves!

Next we got on a boat where our guide pointed out wildlife to us.

 We saw another iguana!

This bird can swim, so it has to dry itself before it can fly, which is what we saw.

If you look where the green laser pointer is and then look at the black spots around it, you'll see that those are bats!

Again if you look where the laser pointer is, you can see a sleeping sloth perched in the fork of a tree branch.

Below is a picture of a caiman.

But this is a crocodile (very rare!)

Can't you tell the difference? Me neither!
